fromis_9 Signs New Contract with ASND
On January 26, five fromis_9 members—Song Hayoung, Park Jiwon, Lee Chaeyoung, Lee Nagyung, and Baek Jiheon—signed exclusive contracts with a new agency, ASND. This marks a significant turning point for the group following their departure from Pledis Entertainment. The other three members, Lee Saerom, Lee Seoyeon, and Roh Jisun, decided to pursue individual paths after extensive discussions.
Commitment to Continuing the Group
Despite leaving their former agency, the members expressed a strong desire to preserve the group. They carefully considered their next steps, exploring various options before deciding on ASND. This new agency offers a dynamic and innovative platform, which the members hope will allow them to explore fresh opportunities while maintaining their identity as fromis_9. Notably, they will retain their group name under their new agency.
fromis_9 Continues with ASND Management
fromis_9 demonstrated their potential with the release of their third single album, SuperSonic, in August 2023. The album showcased their impressive vocal and performance skills, even after a 14-month hiatus. Fans now eagerly anticipate the new music and activities the group will deliver under ASND’s management, looking forward to how this change will shape their careers.
Origins and Group Evolution
Debuting in 2018 through Mnet’s Idol School, fromis_9 originally consisted of nine members. However, in 2022, Jang Gyuri transitioned into acting, leaving the group as an eight-member team. This latest shift further highlights their evolving journey, as they continue to adapt and grow.
Fan Reactions to fromis_9 and ASND Partnership
Fans on platforms like MLBPARK welcomed the members’ new contracts but expressed disappointment that all eight did not join ASND. Many lamented the absence of leader Lee Saerom and vocalist Lee Seoyeon, while others were relieved that popular members like Baek Jiheon, Lee Nagyung, and Song Hayoung remained in the group. Fans also appreciated HYBE’s permission for ASND to use the fromis_9 name, fostering hope for the members’ future success despite the incomplete lineup.

Seriously, I was so heartbroken reading this article and didn’t want to believe it.. I really thought the 8 of them would stick together no matter what, even if they moved to a different company.. But thinking about it after reading the article, decisions like this seem more common with idol groups these days, so it was really shocking in so many ways..
