HYBE and the lawsuit became a major topic after HYBE sued multiple YouTube channels for spreading false rumors about LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT. Legal action revealed that Fastview operated two of the accused channels, leading to further controversy. The public criticized the lawsuit’s compensation amount and raised concerns over government funding provided to Fastview.
HYBE, Fastview, and Lawsuit Over Defamation of LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT
HYBE successfully identified cyber reckless channels that spread false rumors about LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT. LE SSERAFIM belongs to HYBE’s sub-label Source Music, while ILLIT is under Belift Lab, another HYBE subsidiary. On March 6, legal sources confirmed that HYBE submitted a revised lawsuit to correct the defendant’s identification in its 280 million KRW(Approximately 200,000 USD) damage claim. In August 2023, HYBE sued seven YouTube channels—Enterpick, Daissue, Issutan, Wangjam Issue, Peoplebox, NewJeansPam, and CuteRabbitJang—for spreading false rumors about these groups.
HYBE, Fastview, and Lawsuit Investigation Uncovering Defamatory Channels
HYBE traced the creators of defamatory videos through legal action. In September 2023, it filed a request under U.S. federal law (Section 1782) with a California court, seeking permission to collect evidence from Google, YouTube’s parent company. This investigation confirmed that Fastview operated Daissue and Peoplebox, two of the accused channels. By securing concrete proof, HYBE strengthened its case against the individuals responsible for spreading misinformation about LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT.
Fastview, HYBE, and Lawsuit Response to Defamation Allegations
Fastview, a startup launched in 2015, initially focused on economic content for office workers. However, it later gained notoriety for spreading false claims, including past legal issues over rumors about Hyundai Motor Company. Regarding HYBE’s lawsuit, Fastview stated that it had no intention of defaming HYBE or its artists. The company expressed shock at the allegations and emphasized its cooperation with authorities. It also promised to issue an official statement once investigations concluded.
Public Outrage Over Compensation and Government Support
The online community MLBPARK criticized the 280 million KRW(Approximately 200,000 USD) compensation as insufficient, arguing it could not cover the reputational and financial damage suffered by LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT. Users expressed frustration that such a low amount was being pursued despite the harm caused by false rumors. Additionally, controversy grew over Fastview receiving government funding while engaging in misinformation.
Calls for Government Oversight and Fund Recovery
Fastview positioned itself as a content technology company and received 300 million KRW(207,800 USD) in government support in 2022 under the “Baby Unicorn” program, which assists startups selected by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. In 2023, it was further recognized as a “Baby Unicorn Plus” company, qualifying for an additional 300 million KRW(207,800 USD). MLBPARK users criticized the government for failing to properly screen and monitor startups, arguing that taxpayer money had been wasted. Many demanded that Fastview’s government subsidies be revoked.

Saw an article on this site about HYBE failing to track down some bad YouTube channels, but looks like they got ’em this time. Can’t believe people are hating on the angelic Le Sserafim. Hope they get what they deserve.
