KBS banned “Ash” of LE SSERAFIM for lyrics that glorify self-harm and depict abuse. The review approved the title track “HOT” and three other songs. However, “Ash” can air only if the lyrics are revised and reapproved. Many fans believe the ban will not harm the group’s success. Some even say it could strengthen LE SSERAFIM’s bold and powerful image.
“Ash” of LE SSERAFIM KBS Broadcast Ban
KBS deemed LE SSERAFIM’s song “Ash” from their 5th mini-album HOT unfit for broadcast. According to the song review results posted on the 5th, “Ash” was the only track among the album’s five songs to receive a ban.
Reason for the Broadcast Ban
KBS explained that the lyrics of “Ash” glorify self-harm and depict physical and mental abuse in a disturbing manner. To approve the song for broadcast on KBS radio and TV, they require revisions or removal of the problematic lyrics. Once they make the changes, KBS will reevaluate the song.
“Ash” of LE SSERAFIM and Huh Yunjin’s Role
While “Ash” was banned, the album’s title track “HOT” and three other songs—”So Cynical,” “Born Fire,” and “Come Over”—passed the review. Notably, member Huh Yunjin contributed to the lyrics and composition of “Ash,” along with two other tracks, “HOT” and “So Cynical.”
Public Reaction and Minimal Impact on Promotions
The ban did not spark major controversy in online communities like MLBPARK. Fans recalled that LE SSERAFIM’s previous song “EASY” had also failed KBS’s review last year, yet it had no significant impact. The only consequence of the ban is that “Ash” cannot be played on KBS programs. However, since “Ash” is a B-side track, the restriction does not pose a serious issue.
“Ash” of LE SSERAFIM Ban and Group Image
LE SSERAFIM is set to focus on concert activities from April, making promotional broadcasts for “Ash” unlikely. Some fans even believe the ban enhances the group’s strong image rather than harming it. Analysts suggest that this situation may benefit LE SSERAFIM rather than negatively affecting them.

So basically one station can’t play Ash. It’s not even the title track, just a b-side, so no biggie. Le Sserafim’s HOT is gonna slay.
