QWER recently sat down for an interview with Star News in Jongno, Seoul, where they shared their thoughts on winning at AAA 2024, reflected on their journey so far, and discussed their future plans.
This interview has been translated and presented in three parts. Part 1 covers their AAA 2024 experience and how QWER was formed. Part 2 delves into their journey of learning instruments and their hit songs. Finally, Part 3 explores their thoughts on fan reactions and their plans for international activities.
Here is Part 3.
QWER interview: Reflections on QWER’s Early Stage
Hina: Many questioned QWER’s participation in the ‘Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival’ last year, as we started as a project band. However, as an idol band, we expected evaluations and criticism. Instead of being swayed by negativity, the four of us focused on proving ourselves. We believed that as we grew, even those who turned away might open their hearts. Performing at the festival was an honor. We worked hard and practiced intensely, determined to give our best performance.
QWER interview: Overcoming Stage Anxiety
Chodan: I used to struggle with severe stage fright. However, performing at various events and seeing fans show up helped me enjoy the stage. I no longer feel afraid but instead think about how to make each performance more exciting. During ‘Fake Idol,’ we deliberately created a unique stage, which helped me overcome my fears completely.
Siyeon: In the past, if I sang alone and didn’t do it perfectly, I felt frustrated and stuck. That fear left a lasting impact on me. As the main vocalist, I felt pressured whenever I couldn’t perform as expected. However, thanks to Gyeran, who introduced me to this band, I gained strength during our practice sessions. I now have the energy to express myself fully. Even if I make mistakes, I tell myself I can do better next time.
QWER interview: From a Short-Term Project to a Long-Term Band
Magenta: At first, we started casually, thinking it would last only a couple of months. But after practicing together, we all became serious about the band. Eventually, we approached our CEO and expressed our desire to continue long-term. We even made a pact to keep playing together even when we’re 40.
Chodan: Initially, we just played together, but our passion for the band deepened. We haven’t done personal livestreams for a long time. Even when we go live, we mostly share stories related to the band. Magenta interacts with fans the most, but otherwise, our focus remains on QWER.
Expanding to International Stages
Chodan: We are preparing for our first overseas fan concert in April in Shinjuku, Japan. Since it’s our debut international event, we are working even harder.
Siyeon: I was thrilled when I heard we would perform in Japan. Having worked there before, this opportunity feels special. I’ve spent many years as an idol, struggling and growing in Japan. Returning now brings back many memories. I hope fans from my past group activities will come to see us.
Plans for 2025
Magenta: Our past songs have reflected our personal stories, but this year, we want to take it further. We plan to release an album featuring songs written and composed by all members. We want to showcase our musical identity through our own lyrics and compositions.

Thank you so much for reading this post! I’d love to hear your thoughts, so feel free to share them in the comments!
