The recent demands for Suga departure from BTS have led to suspicions of fake ARMY involvement. Alleged fake ARMY members organized protests, but their connections to other fandoms raised doubts. The global ARMY community strongly opposed Suga departure, countering the protests with a unified response.
Fake ARMY Behind Suga Departure Protest
Recently, rumors have circulated that those urging Suga’s departure from BTS were not genuine members of the ARMY community. On September 13th, a group claiming to be ARMY held a wreath protest outside HYBE’s headquarters in Yongsan, Seoul. They demanded Suga’s departure from BTS. However, doubts have arisen regarding the true identity of those behind the wreath and truck protests demanding Suga’s departure.
Suspicions of Fake ARMY in Suga Departure Demands
Many believe that these protestors, who pushed for Suga’s departure, were actually fans of other groups pretending to be part of the ARMY community. One account associated with the Suga’s departure truck protest was linked to an email that revealed the account’s owner had tagged posts about NCT and former SM Entertainment executive Min Hee-jin on Pinterest. This revelation led to widespread suspicion within the ARMY community.
Fake ARMY’s Unconvincing Defense Regarding Suga’s Departure
The account operator, linked to the Suga’s departure protest, tried to defend their actions. They claimed the Pinterest posts were for personal use and offered to prove their ARMY community membership. However, it was later discovered that this individual had bookmarked NCT and NCT127 on another online platform. This information fueled further doubts about the legitimacy of their claims and their connection to the ARMY community.
Global ARMY vs. Fake ARMY: The Suga Departure Controversy
When the Suga’s departure protests began, international ARMY community members reacted differently. They released a statement condemning these actions as an attempt to damage BTS’s reputation. The ARMY community emphasized that the protests were not organized by them and expressed ongoing support for all seven BTS members. They started a campaign using hashtags like “#SugaStays” and “#ARMYdidNotSendWreaths” to counter the demands for Suga’s departure.
Debates in Online Communities
These revelations ignited heated discussions in various female-dominated online communities. Some argued that even if the Suga’s departure protest organizer was an NCT fan, they could still belong to the ARMY community. They claimed to have additional evidence supporting this. They suggested the organizer could be a “multi-fan,” someone who supports multiple idol groups. However, many believe the protest was an organized effort by Suga’s departure anti-fans and doubt the authenticity of their claims to be part of the ARMY community.
