Suga returns to Samsung Advertising, resuming his role despite recent controversy. Samsung’s decision to continue featuring Suga in their ads follows a DUI incident that raised questions about his future. However, ARMYs globally have shown strong support, while opinions in Korea remain divided.
Suga Returns to Samsung Advertising
BTS member Suga returns as a Samsung advertising model. On August 31st (KST), Samsung Paraguay shared photos of Suga in their projector ad. The images show Suga using the projector in various settings like a studio, outdoors, and his workspace. The ad caption reads, “This is how you use your Freestyle 2nd Gen projector.” With Samsung resuming Suga-related ads, the controversy surrounding his advertising role may come to an end.
Controversy Surrounding Suga’s Samsung Advertising Role
Suga and BTS members continue to serve as Samsung brand ambassadors. Recently, Suga faced police investigation over a DUI charge. Due to this, Samsung Germany deleted an ad featuring Suga with the Galaxy S24 Ultra on August 24th. This fueled speculation about Suga’s future as a Samsung advertising model.
Suga’s Loyalty to Samsung Despite Controversy
Suga has consistently shown his loyalty to Samsung as their brand ambassador. In July 2023, he revealed his Samsung employee ID on social media, calling it his “first-ever employee ID.” Samsung gave this to Suga as a token of appreciation. Suga has been committed to the brand, even requesting fans to take selfies with Galaxy phones.
Positive ARMY Reaction to Suga’s Samsung Advertising
International ARMYs welcome Suga’s return to Samsung advertising. Comments include, “The rumor that Samsung dropped Suga was false,” and “Samsung will not regret this decision.” They added BTS’s signature purple hearts. South American ARMYs displayed support banners near HYBE’s headquarters, showing unwavering support for Suga, regardless of the controversy.
Mixed Reactions to Suga’s Samsung Advertising in Korea
On the other hand, Suga faces criticism on the Korean community site theqoo, where anti-fans gather. Many sarcastically suggested Suga should move to Paraguay. Anti-fans also worry Samsung won’t terminate their contract with Suga. However, Samsung seems uninterested in severing ties with Suga, and HYBE shows no sign of removing him from BTS. General Korean public opinion is lenient toward Suga, with many downplaying his DUI incident. Some theqoo users even mocked the situation by comparing it to a politician supported by the community who also had a DUI.
