FIFTY FIFTY gained significant popularity by ranking second in the 4th-generation girl group trend rankings. Despite their success in South Korea, overseas fans have boycotted the group due to misinformation about the conflict with former members. Resolving this issue requires providing accurate information to international fans, especially about the legal ruling in favor of ATTRAKT.
FIFTY FIFTY Rising Popularity in Trend Rankings
FIFTY FIFTY secured second place in the trend rankings for 4th-generation girl groups. This ranking was determined by Rankify using a big data analysis that combined Google trend indices and search volumes for the first week of October 2024. The data collection covered the period from September 30 to October 6. NewJeans topped the list with 19,013 points, while FIFTY FIFTY followed with 12,651 points. IVE took third place with 7,686 points, followed by NMIXX with 5,404 points and LE SSERAFIM with 5,105 points.
FIFTY FIFTY Popularity Across Genders and Age Groups
The trend rankings also revealed interesting insights into gender and age group preferences. For FIFTY FIFTY, 47% of their followers were male and 53% were female. In comparison, NewJeans had 41% male and 59% female followers, while IVE had the same gender split as NewJeans. LE SSERAFIM showed a more balanced gender split, with 51% male and 49% female followers. In terms of age groups, FIFTY FIFTY’s popularity was distributed across various age ranges: 11% in their teens, 20% in their 20s, 23% in their 30s, 29% in their 40s, and 17% in their 50s. Their ability to appeal to a broad demographic, especially older age groups, demonstrates their growing popularity.
Challenges from Overseas Fans and Boycotts
Despite their rising popularity in South Korea, FIFTY FIFTY faces challenges internationally. Overseas fans have been hesitant to fully embrace the group, with many still holding onto loyalty for the former FIFTY FIFTY members. This lack of understanding stems from these fans being unaware of the legal conflict between ATTRAKT and the former members. Consequently, some overseas fans have initiated a boycott of the current FIFTY FIFTY lineup, which has affected the group’s overseas popularity. The boycott intensified when LE SSERAFIM’s Huh Yunjin recommended FIFTY FIFTY’s song “Gravity,” leading to backlash from former fans who believed she should support the boycott.
Legal Conflict and the Spread of Misinformation
The legal dispute between ATTRAKT and the former FIFTY FIFTY members remains a key factor in the international fan divide. While Korean courts ruled in favor of ATTRAKT, many overseas fans either ignore this fact or are unaware of it. This has resulted in misinformation spreading across social media, especially on platforms like Twitter, where large accounts support the former members. Korean fans have grown increasingly frustrated with this situation and have even started referring to misinformed overseas fans with derogatory terms. It is crucial to provide accurate information to international fans to bridge this gap and resolve the ongoing conflict.

I’m really hoping for a detailed post about the ATTRAKT and former FIFTY FIFTY issue. All the scattered news is making it hard to follow the story.
I just watched an SOS dance cover on YouTube! It’s a clear sign that FIFTY FIFTY is gaining popularity not only in Korea but also in the US and Europe.
