FIFTY FIFTY will begin their U.S. tour this month, performing in eight cities including San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York. They plan to include “Cupid” in their setlist, exciting fans in attendance. Alongside their U.S. activities, the group also plans domestic performances to engage both Korean and global fans. CEO Jeon Hongjun shared his strategy to balance international and local success. He reflected on challenges and expressed hopes for FIFTY FIFTY’s future.
Successful U.S. Tour Plans for FIFTY FIFTY
Following their successful comeback, FIFTY FIFTY has concluded their promotional activities in Korea. Later this month, they will embark on a U.S. tour across eight cities, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. Alongside their performances, the group has planned various promotional events. Given FIFTY FIFTY’s prior success in the U.S. with “Cupid,” they aim to capture the American market once again. However, they are also preparing for domestic performances, with a plan to meet Korean fans early next year. This time, the group is targeting K-pop fans both domestically and internationally.
Jeon Hongjun’s Strategy: Balancing Domestic and International Appeal
CEO Jeon Hongjun explained that unlike the past “reverse import” strategy focused on foreign markets, this time FIFTY FIFTY aims to balance success in both Korea and abroad. He revealed that the reverse-import strategy served as a survival tactic. He said, “It took too long to succeed in Korea alone and required resources we didn’t have.” With a market of over 100 million Spotify users in the U.S., Jeon saw a faster path to reach global audiences. He added that the English version of “Cupid” stemmed from this necessity and urgency. He crafted the song to appeal directly to listeners in the U.S. and U.K.
Expanded Setlist for FIFTY FIFTY U.S. Tour Fans
For the U.S. tour, FIFTY FIFTY will perform songs from their latest album as well as previous hits like “Higher,” “Lovin’ Me,” and “Tell Me.” This allows fans to hear these tracks with the current members’ voices. Although “Cupid” remains under copyright dispute, Jeon confirmed that they will use it in the performances. The release of other songs is planned to follow a full resolution on the “Cupid” copyright. He stated that they would release tracks like “Higher” and “Lovin’ Me” for fans once copyright matters for “Cupid” are entirely settled.
Overcoming Challenges and Aiming for Global Success
Reflecting on the challenges of running a small agency, Jeon shared his disappointment over the contractual disputes. These disputes disrupted FIFTY FIFTY’s initial trajectory. He described the group’s past success as “a one-in-a-billion miracle” for a small agency. Jeon expressed a strong desire for FIFTY FIFTY to be remembered as a successful K-pop girl group. He emphasized his commitment to steering the group towards new achievements and putting the past behind them.
Positive Outlook for FIFTY FIFTY U.S. Tour Debut
Looking ahead to their U.S. tour, Jeon shared his aspirations for FIFTY FIFTY to be well-received as fresh talent in the American market. “As newcomers, we’ll put our best effort forward and aim to leave a positive impression, with fans saying, ‘They’re pretty good,’” he said.

I’m freaking out that I can hear Cupid at FIFTY FIFTY’s US show! Can’t wait for the legal stuff to be sorted out so I can listen to it on repeat. Anyone know how long Korean lawsuits usually take?
