Introduction
On September 26, 2024, JoongAng Ilbo published an interview with Min Heejin that contained several incorrect claims. HYBE responded, refuting these falsehoods to clarify the situation and protect its reputation.
HYBE Refutation of the Min Heejin Resignation Negotiation
ADOR’s parent company, HYBE refuted the claim that it offered Min Heejin money to resign. According to HYBE, no such negotiation occurred, and it is absurd to suggest otherwise. The company expressed shock at the false claim, clarifying that it never proposed any financial arrangement related to her departure.
Min Heejin and HYBE Refutation of Audit Claims
Min Heejin argued that the audit against her was driven by emotions and false accusations. HYBE refuted this, stating that the audit was initiated based on reliable internal and external reports. The investigation found that Min Heejin had conspired with the vice president to undermine the company. She also met with investors while planning to leave HYBE. Despite these findings, Min Heejin has not cooperated with the audit. The matter remains serious, with police continuing their investigation.
Refuting Min Heejin’s Claims of Management Interference at HYBE
HYBE refuted Min Hee-jin’s claim that the company broke its promise to ensure her label’s independence. The company stated that it granted Min Hee-jin full authority over production and management. Additionally, HYBE provided her with greater support than any other label, including in salary, options, and promotional resources. HYBE’s refutation demonstrated that her claim of interference lacked basis.
Refutation of Min Heejin’s Slander Claims Involving HYBE and PR Agencies
HYBE refuted the accusation that it hired a PR agency to spread false information about Min Heejin. The company clarified that no affiliated agency ever distributed defamatory materials about her. This was further confirmed by a columnist, who denied receiving any slanderous information from HYBE. The agency itself stated that to suggest otherwise would be a lie, firmly supporting HYBE’s refutation.
HYBE Refute Claims of Misrepresented Sales in Japan
HYBE refuted Min Heejin’s claim that it distorted album sales in Japan. The figure of 1.02 million sales in Japan was misrepresented. HYBE explained that the number cited in the media was based on shipment figures, not actual sales. The Japan Record Association’s gold certification uses shipment numbers, which explains the discrepancy. HYBE’s detailed clarification refuted the distortion of sales data.
Min Heejin Work Delays and HYBE Refutation of Fan Meeting Claims
HYBE refuted the claim that company interference caused delays in fan meetings and album production. They explained that they had already resolved the venue issues, but Min Hee-jin’s work delays caused further disruptions. They repeatedly attempted to schedule meetings and communicate with her, but Min Hee-jin postponed or ignored these requests. Her indecision and work negligence caused significant delays in fan events.
Min Heejin and HYBE Refutation of Dismissal Procedure Claims
Min Heejin claimed that her dismissal was not properly communicated. HYBE refuted this by explaining that board meeting agendas do not require prior negotiation or notice. However, HYBE did inform Min Heejin three days in advance, out of courtesy. The decision to separate the CEO role from producing was based on policy, not personal reasons. HYBE emphasized that Min Heejin’s claims were unfounded.
Min Heejin’s ongoing false statements reflect poorly on her ability to lead. HYBE urged her to return to her duties and focus on her work for the artists and fans.
theqoo Community’s Response to the HYBE and Min Heejin Controversy
The online community theqoo, composed mainly of Min Heejin supporters, reacted negatively to HYBE’s statements. Members criticized HYBE, accusing the company of lying and deliberately avoiding certain issues. They questioned why HYBE had not addressed former Seoul Shinmun reporter Jang’s recordings, which alleged that HYBE’s PR team tried to damage NewJeans. They also mentioned the claim that Min Heejin could not work due to unresolved contract issues, suggesting ongoing tensions between her and HYBE.

This is all about money and power for MHJ and NewJeans and they won’t have one without the other. That woman has created alot of chaos at HYBE and they still made a reasonable compromise with her so she can continue to work with NewJeans thats still not enough.
